A Frugal Traveler

Outdoor and Exploration Bucket List / Fun Lists

I will start with two that we are personally trying to do as a family:

  1. Visiting all National Parks in the United States.
  2. Visiting all the National Park Sites in the United States.
    1. A good resource for attempting this is the National Park Travelers Club. Most members track their park visits with park passport stamps which can be found at specific locations for each NPS site.
    2. A guide on collecting stamps

Other fun goals that outdoor and travel enthusiasts can try:

  1. Visit all the United States.
  2. Visit every continent
  3. Visit every country
  4. Fairy Door Scouting (fun for kids and families)
    1. https://www.leafcutterdesigns.com/blog/fairy-door-if-you-build-it/
  5. Geocaching goals
    1. Geocaching is a great outdoor activity and one can set a number of goals (e.g., we are trying to find at least one geocache in every state).
  6. Highpointing various locations in the world / country / county
    1. Highpointing is the sport of ascending to the point with the highest elevation within a given area (the “highpoint”). Examples include: climbing the highest point of each U.S. state; reaching the highest point of each county within a specific state; and ascending the highest mountain on each continent (the “Seven Summits”).
    2. County highpointing resource.

Other misc, random goals:

  • Idaho Hot Spring Tour. I first heard of this from SUV RVing on youtube here.
